Morning with Ebenezer

HUMBLE YOURSELF

But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you,
‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Luke 14:10-11 NIV

We have many folks in the body of Jesus Christ who likes to boast themselves in everything. These folks think that they are holier than others and tend to criticize everyone and in all things they are perfect than all. They like to mention their possessions in form of materials to show off that they are more blessed than others.

Jesus taught about humbleness in the example of weeding feast; He said when someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, 'Give this person your seat. Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. (ve. 8-9)

Then He taught us how we should react when we are being invited somewhere; He said we should take the lowest place, so that when our host comes, he will say to us, 'Friends, move up to a better place. It is the same to God, if we learn to humble ourselves before Him and our fellow men; He will come one day and exalt us in the better place compared to what we are right now. If we think we know it, then there will be no room for us to learn new things from God.

This morning, I want to encourage you to learn to humble yourself. Humbleness start in your tone of voice, then the way you act before people who don't profit you anything; and your obedience when comes to the word of God. Humbleness can be seen in your life style, your reverence to God and your treatment to strangers.

Humbleness attracts favor from the Lord and humble people always reach far in life compared to arrogant ones. Humble people are able to intercede for others and carry the burden of others in prayers like they way they carry their own burdens. They don't seek to be seen or known but in everything they seek to see Jesus being glorified and praised for who He is in the lives of people. I pray that you may take this message to the heart and start asking the Lord to help you live a humble life.

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Father, I pray that You may help me to be humble and walk in humbleness before all people. Help me to walk in the footsteps of Jesus by being obedient to your word in every aspect of my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
