ARE YOU FAR FROM GOD?

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

In our walk with the Lord, we may find ourselves far from God. Maybe you are a good Christian who goes to church every Sunday and even in the middle of the week when needed. This does not guarantee that your life will completely be perfect before the Lord.

Sometimes there are those small things that we do which bring a very huge impact in our walk with the Lord. There are those things we do or say that end up offending others people in the body of Christ. We sometimes gossip and spread rumors of other people without considering how much pain it will cost to the whole body of Christ.

As days go by the passion for the things of God feds and we start doing things by depending more on our own understanding. Here is the where Christians stop praying, fasting and reading the word of God in the daily basis. Some start compromising the truth of the Gospel, people who have the form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.

This morning, I want you to encourage you to put aside time for God this weekend. I know you have a lot of things to do and maybe your schedule for the weekend is already full. One thing you need to know that is, without God being with you none of what you are planning to do this weekend will succeed. You need God in every area of your life; you need God to help you become a better version of yourself.

If you have been living like the people of this world now is the time for you to go back to God. Repent your sins; build all those things that were broken. Start afresh the fellowship with the Spirit of God and let the hand of Jesus touch you. Desire to know God more, submit your life to Him; draw near to God that He may draw near to you. Give yourself to Him and let Him have a total dominion over your life; and He will strengthen you all the days of your life.

YOU ARE OF GREAT VALUE

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well.

Psalm 139:15 NIV

God created each one of us in an awesome unique way. He has made us in a way that we will fit in His original plan for each one of us.  That’s why were don’t look alike, we don’t have the same voice or even height. Each detail in our bodies represents the creative work of the hand of God who designed us in a very wonderfully way.

He is the one who made people of different race, language and tribes. He located these people in different areas of this world that they may live and extend His kingdom on this earth. He knows every detail of every human being who He has created. When the world is concern with so called over population, the Lord knows that each human who has been born is of equal value before Him.

The Psalmist David says these wonderful words. “You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely. (Psalm 139:1-4)

This morning, I want you to know that you are precious before the LORD. Maybe you have been struggling with the spirit of rejection since your childhood. Maybe there are some things that have to do with your appearance that make others to reject you. Maybe you are living in a society that people of your race are considered to be inferior; or you come from a tribe that has a bad reputation among people.

Some have been struggling to fit in because they were created short, others have been struggling to fit in because they are taller compared to an average person. Some are struggling because they gain weight easily while other are considered being too skinny. People have different struggles that prevent them from seeing the big picture of God that He had in His mind when He was creating them.

God did not make a mistake to create you the way you are. You were perfect before His eyes and you will continue to be, if you will not be tempted to change your appearance; or increase some things that there were not there in your body. If you have met with few unwise people who didn't appreciate you for who you are; then ask God to bring in your life people who will love you like the way you are. You are unique and beautiful in your own way. Don’t let anyone intimidate you because of your skin color, height, weight, facial appearance, background, accent, your body figure and the alike.

It takes people a life time to be very good on something. If you ask people who have been successful in their professional; they will tell you that they didn't reach where they are in a twinkling of an eye.

Our God can perform miracles in a twinkling of an eye and change someone life forever. He can perform the greatest miracle of forgiving the sins of a sinner in a twinkling of an eye; and many other miracles with in a second. But there are some things He intended men to do for themselves from the beginning.

When God created man, He said these words. “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” (Genesis 1:28 NIV) 

Here God was telling male and female whom He has created that there will have to play their part if they want to live a good life. He commanded them to be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. He wanted them to master their environment and rule over everything on the earth. That's why laziness is sin against the Lord because God fashioned men to work from the beginning.

This morning, I want to encourage you to work towards your dreams. You may be having very big dreams that no one in your circle of influence knows how you will be able to achieve them. It may seem impossible for you right now; but if you work hard and commit every bit of your strength inside of you, there is a day you will fulfill all of your dreams.

It is not easy to achieve any life dreams, if you want a good marriage you need to work hard to make it happen. You need to learn to forgive your significant other and love him/her unconditionally. If you want a successful business, you need to be patient in all seasons including the ones that you will make loss; and forced to even use your personal savings to save it. If you want to be successful in your career then you need to be willing to wake up in the morning, and work hard that you may one day be where you desire to be. I pray that God may give you strength to fulfill all of your dreams.

HE WILL FINISH

There are some of us who started this year with great plans. We had all things figured out how we want out first month to be and how we will live for the rest of the year. As the year goes by we start seeing other things don't add up; and we start to lose that enthusiasm we had in the beginning of the year.

Maybe you have been stuck in the same situation for years now. Maybe nothing has changed since last year. You still believe God for the same things that you have believed Him for the past three years. You have been praying the same kind of prayers and nothing seem to change for your favor.

I have been in that kind of situation in my personal life. There was a time that I believed God for a certain miracle which did not come within my timeline; finally I got tired and wanted to give up. Before I could live everything behind God showed up; He helped me in my unbelief and I received what I was waiting for all that time.  

This morning, I want you to know that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in His grace until His task within you is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns, Philippians 1:6. I want to encourage you to be strong in the Lord and know that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

The Lord will help you accomplish everything you want to do this year. It doesn't matter if those things may involve a lot of money; or will take long time to be accomplished. The Lord will give you all the strength you need that you may do everything according to His will. You are not alone; God, who has started something in you, be sure that He will finish it. Continue being faithful in prayers knowing that the good Lord is listening and one day He will answer you if you will not lose heart.

DELIVERANCE AND STRENGTH 

They will say of me, “In the Lord alone

    are deliverance and strength.”’

    will find deliverance in the Lord

    and will make their boast in him.

I know some of us have found ourselves in situations that there is no alternative but to be strong. We have been put in a certain corner of life that we need to stay strong for the sake of those who are weaker. Maybe you are single parent and the whole family is looking on you; you desire sometimes to take a break from your duties but the reality won't allow you.

I know some of my friends who are first born; the pressure of the whole family is upon them. They are expected to be excellent in everything. They are expected to be role model for their younger siblings. They expected to make the right decisions when comes to careers and who they will spend the rest of their lives with. Sometimes they may be too proud to admit; but most of the time they get overwhelmed with that kind of pressure.

We have Pastors who lead our local churches who are expected to be the role model in everything. They are expected to know how to solve everything regardless what things they are facing in their private lives. We sometimes think of Pastors and Ministers of the Gospel as Angels; and we don't expect them to make mistakes. We forget that we may found ourselves one day in their positions, if we make a lot of mistakes in life then we need to understand them when they do; and pray that they may stand up and continue with the journey of salvation.

This morning, I want you to know that in the Lord there is deliverance and strength. I don't know that things you are facing right now; but I hear the Spirit of God telling me to tell you that the Lord has got you covered. He knew that you will reach a point of dilemma in your life; a point where you don't know what you should with your life and how you can fulfill your responsibilities. He wants you to go to Him and He will show you a way on how you will overcome all of your fears.

I don't know which kind of pressure you are facing right now in life but I know the Lord who can control the sea and calm the storm. Our Lord Jesus Christ is able to help you overcome your fears, deliver you from all demonic oppression and restore the joy of salvation inside of you. Go to Him today, surrender all your cares to Him and let Him take control over all affairs of your life.

I believe God has given each one of us opportunity to improve our lives. I know we were born in different families and exposed into different environments; but still you can make the most of everything in your disposal. 

There are people who were born in poor families, who refused to die in poverty. They worked hard and use their time wisely; they invested whatever they had in them that they may get more in the future. They planted the seeds of hard work and patiently waited for the harvest; the time came where their hard work paid them.

I believe when God created you, He prepared a place for you in this world. He knew that you will be born in those environments and raised by those parents; but and He had a plan for you. He had thoughts and plans for  your welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. The story of your life was written even before you were born. God prepared each event perfectly to fit the purpose that He has for your life.

This morning, I want you to know that there is a place for you in the world. There is a place for someone of your color, height, weight and appearance. Maybe some people rejected you in the past because you were not good enough for them; but I believe there are people who will come in your life and accept you as who you are. God will bring people who will help you to become the better version of yourself and fulfill the will of God in your life.

I'm here to encourage you to use all the potential inside of you that you may live the life that God intended you to live. I know life can be difficult and changeling but you were designed to solve more complex problems so do not be afraid. The Lord will help you solve whatsoever comes in your way; He will strengthen you when you face more challenging tasks in life if you will put your trust in Him.

LIFE OF THE SCRIPTURES

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:32 NLT

We are living in a world that is full of broken men. Sin broke us and separated us from the only person who could fix us, God Himself. People walk, talk and live with a lot of things inside of them. Not all people who smile outside feel the same inside; sometimes that simple smile is a way to hide the pain inside of them. 

That's why we need to learn to stop judging people because sometimes its hard to know what cause them to act like the way they act. We need feel compassion on people and learn to pray for them when we see they act weird. We need to live the life that the Bible teaches us to live, because indeed the world need people who love the Lord and filled with the Spirit of Christ.

The world need Christians who will show Christ like characters. People who will obey the word of God by their actions. People who can help others reach the perfection in Christ Jesus and act like the peace keepers where there are discords.

This morning, I want to encourage you to live the life that you are being taught in the Scriptures. There is a reason God gave us constitution to follow which is the Bible; He wanted us to live the life He designed for us before the beginning of this world. He knew by living that kind of life, we will have peace and succeed in this life. 

Don't stop being good to people and forgiving all who hurt you. God will reward your good deeds and He won't forget all what you have done for His name. Ask the Lord to help you understand people and treat every one with dignity. Ask Him to help you live the life that the Bible teaches us to live that we may the the salt and light of the world.

HAVING BAD DAY?

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.

Psalm 113:3 NIV

Have you ever been in those days where you were having a bad day? There are those days where everything you do seem to end badly. For some reasons even close friends seem to misunderstand you; and annoy you with their words during those days.

There are many reasons that can cause people to have so called bad day; but I have learnt that is wise not to let those days to get a better of us. For us who are in Christ Jesus we need to be able to manage our feelings and control our moods. We need to ask the Spirit of God to give us the fruit of self control that we may be able to control ourselves.

The Bible says from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. In other reasons we need to develop the art of praising the Lord always in our hearts and through our lips. Praise breaks the chain of bad moods, and restores the joy of the Lord in the heart of believers.

This morning, I want you to know that praise can help you to break the chain of bad days. If you find yourself any time you are having a bad day; then to break that trend you need to put your praise on. You need to start thinking about the goodness of the Lord, what He has done for you; and thank Him for His goodness and mercies in your life.

God is enthroned in the praises of His people, as Psalmist says in Psalm 22:3, "Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel." When we stop trying so hard in our own puny power and simply build a throne of praise to Him, He will come and inhabit and sit right in our midst. The language of praise acts like a magnet and God quickly attaches Himself to us. It’s a promise—God is enthroned on the praises of His people. (Steve Berger)

If God comes down to sit with us through our praises; then you need to be sure that nothing will be able to stand against us whether inside of us or on the environments those surround us. Praise can turn terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day to be one of the best days of your life.

CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV

You may be facing a certain temptation, problem or trial now; and feel like you are the only one who is facing it. There are a lot of other people who you know or don't know who are facing the same problems or even more problems than you do.

The people who are facing difficulties like you or more than you. They still manage to wake up in the morning, put their smiling face on and continue with life. I have learnt that sometimes what hurt us a lot when we are facing problems are not problems themselves; but the attitude we have when we approach it.

I heard stories of people who got bad news from the doctors. They were told that they won't have much time to live, some of them were given less than a year; but they are still here until today. They had a good attitude that no matter what the doctors says; their God had a final say. They trusted God that He was the only one who can say a final word when it comes to their lives.

This morning, I want you to know that if you will be willing to change your attitude, you will end up changing your whole life. If you have an attitude of complaining every time you face obstacles in life; then it will be hard for you even to figure out how you can solve them. 

The Bible teaches us about faith, it encourage us to have faith no matter how bad our situations maybe. It reminds us that we have blessed hope in Christ Jesus our Lord, the hope that will never put us to shame. If you trust God more than anything people say about you or think of you. Then God will prove Himself faithful; and He will be there for you until the end of your life.

TOUCH AND AGREE

“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.  For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

Matthew 18:19-20 NLT

One of the greatest forces on the planet is the force of agreement. When people agree tend to accomplish great things in life. In order to succeed in anything in life people involved need to be in total agreement. If all parts agree then success comes to them all.

Jesus said, "If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you."Here Jesus was talking about people who are in Him; the ones who have surrendered their lives to the Father. If these people will agree in their prayers concerning anything they ask, His Father in heaven will do it for them.

He then explained that where two or three gather in His name, He is there among them. This teaches us that if we agree and gather in the name of Jesus; God will be there with us. In other words we need to develop the tendency to gather and pray together in unit.

This morning, find someone who you can touch and agree in prayers. Sometimes there are some things that can't be moved in your life; unless you share with your fellow saints that they may pray with you. God respects prayer of agreement, when we agree God comes to seal our agreements that He may give us what we are asking of Him.

When you agree with someone, make sure that you don't break that agreement knowing that God was there when you agreed. When you pray with your fellow Christians, have faith knowing that God is there in the midst of you listening to a prayer of each one of you. Have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, know that He loves you and He will help you in all the days of your life.

GRACE OF GOD

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT

There is a grace of God that covers our weaknesses. This grace of God prevents us from committing the same kind of mistakes that people of this world commit. It is the power of God that helps us to overcome our weakness and act right before all people.

Paul the Apostle has weakness like each one of us. He cried to God that He may deliver him from that particular weakness and the Lord said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” Paul needed the grace of God to help him cover whatsoever he was struggling with in life. 

We all need the grace of God to help us cover our weaknesses and overcome our fears. This grace has been revealed through our Lord Jesus Christ who has overcome sin and all kind of weaknesses there on the cross. If we walk in Him, He will give us strength to overcome whatsoever weaknesses that we have in life.

This morning, I want to encourage you to pray for the grace of God to cover you. Pray that God may help you overcome whatsoever that pulls you back from the faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. There is victory in Christ Jesus; you can overcome anything in life if you will let God help you overcome it.

Allow the power of Christ to work through you, let the Lord Jesus to take a total control over your life. There is a great advantage of letting the Lord handle all matters of your life. Sometimes His ways may seem to be long and different from our ways; but there is a true victory that is found in obeying and walking in His ways.

THANK HIM FOR EVERYTHING

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-7 NIV

One of the things that the enemy does to Christians is giving them reasons not to rejoice in the Lord. Many Christians concentrate on their problems and forget counting their blessings. There are some people in the Church that don't know how to appreciate the lives that God has given them. 

It is not bad thing to seek for more in life but we need to learn to appreciate what God has done for us while we are seeking to be more. We need to rejoice and be thankful for what we have and stop complaining for what we don't have. You will never experience the joy of the Lord in life if your mouth is full of complaints. You will never experience the peace of the Lord in your life if you constant live in fear.

If there is something that bothers you, know that the Lord is there to help you. The Bible teaches us not to allow any situation undermine us. It says we need to pray and ask God for everything we need, and always giving thanks for what we have. 

This morning, I want to ask you to take a moment and thank God for everything in your life. You may be struggling in a lot of areas and maybe you haven't reached where you have wanted to be in life. But as long as you are still alive there is a room for you to improve and grow that you maybe more in life.

There is a room for you to become a person that you always desire to be. You need to be strong and try your best that you may not give up on yourself. The most important thing is that don't give up on God. If God did not answer your prayer yesterday, just know that He stayed quiet; because He had a better plan for you. So continue praying while allowing His will to be fulfilled in your life; and in His time He will make everything beautiful for you.

HE LOVES YOU

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 NIV

The world is celebrating Valentine's Day today; Valentine's Day, also known as Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is a celebration observed on February 14 each year. A popular bibliographical account of Saint Valentine of Rome states that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. 

Valentine showed the act of love to those who needed most in his time; generations after him respected what he did and recognized his efforts by putting a special day to remember him. We read in the Scriptures that God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God loved us and that love made Him to give us a priceless gift that changed the history of this world.

He gave us Jesus, He sent Him that He may save us from our corrupt lives of sin. Someone once said, "You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving." The love of God gave us His Son. His son loved us, and gave us His life. He died for our sins that He may reconcile us with the Father; and restore the relationship that was once broken.

This morning, I want you to know that you had a debt you could not pay, and Jesus paid the debt He did not owe. He paid it all; He paid by His death there on the old rugged cross. As you celebrate the Valentine's Day, remember the love that God has towards you. He was willing to send His Son for you and me. 

Make a decision to love someone today, make a decision to show to those who desperately need it in life. John the Apostle who is also known as the Apostle of love wrote these words to us. “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth, 1 John 3:18.” Let's put actions in our love, we need to show people love and do our best to treat them right.

SEEK TO BE MORE

Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge.

Proverbs 18:15 NLT

One of the common things that all successful people have is that they enhance their knowledge every day. They gain their success faster because they are open and active learners. As they grow higher in the success ladder, they face more complex problems and opportunities that are presented to them. This requires them to learn everything they can that they master their affairs well.

The Bible encourages us to enhance our scriptural knowledge every day. It encourages us to read the word of God that we may be successful in life. God told Joshua these words, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditates on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful, Joshua 1:8."

While we are needed to read the word of God that we may grow in the spirit. We also supposed to read materials that are related to the fields that we are in. Learning will help us enhance our knowledge and be competent in our fields. It will increase our confidence and make us to be effective on whatever we do in life.

This morning, I want to challenge you to seek to be more. Seek to excel more on whatever you do in life. The people of this world do whatever they can to reach their dreams and they try to work hard that they may one day live comfortable life. Christians should work hard and learn whatever they can that they may succeed on what they do.

You need to learn to save that you may prepare yourself unforeseen events in life. You need to always have something that will help someone who is in need. Christians need to have enough money to support the work of the Gospel and different projects in the Church. This will not be attained by praying alone, we need to go out there and work as hard as anyone else. We cannot substitute prayers with work, we need to do both that we may be on the top of both spiritual and physical worlds.

HE CAN SHOW YOU THINGS

In life there are many things that come unexpected. We are being encouraged to save whenever we have surplus that we may be able to meet unforeseen events. When were kids our parents prepared us by sending us to school; and taught us the basics value of life.

Our Bible teachers and leaders in the Church are encouraging us to pray whenever we have a chance; that we may not enter into temptations as Jesus told His disciples. "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."(Matthew 26:41)

I believe you came across many things that you were not prepared to face. Some you were able to manage but some were beyond your reach. The Bible teaches us that the Spirit who God will send to us, He will tell us what is to come. The Spirit of Jesus will prepare us for what is yet to come that we may not be caught with anything in surprise. 

This morning, I want to encourage you to ask the Spirit of God to show you things that are yet to come in your life. The Lord spoke through the mouth of prophet Isaiah these words."Thus said the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command you me, Isaiah 45:11.

The Lord is inviting us to ask Him about our future. He is inviting us to ask about what things will take place in our Churches, families and nations. If you are uncertain about the future of your family, business, ministry or loved ones; you are invited to pray and the Lord will show you and prepare you for the things that will take place ahead of you. If there will be bad things, you have opportunity to cancel them in the spirit that they may not take place. If there are good things, you will have a room to pray that they may come to pass.

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Luke 12:15 NIV

We are facing the problem of greed in the Church of Jesus Christ. We have so called ministers who are willing to do anything for the sake of money and fame. Many are performing fake miracles; and arrange people to say false testimonies that they may make people believe that they are doing is true.

We hear prosperity Gospel being preached in all of our Christian Medias. Some preachers speak more about material prosperity than they way the speak about salvation. We have Christian programs that encourage people to live any kind of life style as long as they go to Church; and do good deeds but they don’t put emphasis on giving life to Jesus.

Jesus warned us to watch out, and be our guard against all kinds of greed, life is not measured by how much one owns. As Christian we should not focus on accumulating wealth as the people of the world do. We need to learn to share whatever we have with those who are in need and stop using the word of God for our own private gain.

This morning, ask God to help you share what you have with others. I believe it is not bad to have material wealth but no matter what we have in life; our focus should be on God. We should focus on our Lord Jesus Christ, and how we will live a holy life in Him.

Our Lord Jesus Christ said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." As Christians we should learn to give others more than they way we desire to receive. If we give ourselves completely to God, He will make sure that we don't lack anything in this life.

Morning with Ebenezer

GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 NKJV

Us who are evil know how to give good gifts and taking care of our children, we do everything in our power to make them feel comfortable and secure. I have seen parents going above and beyond to protect their children from harm.

We are the children of Most High God. We call God our Father and Jesus our older brother; we are heir with Christ in the kingdom of our Father. God knows each one of us by name, He knows where will live and what we do in our daily basis.

He understands our struggles, He knows the way we struggle to fight with sin and He knows how weak we are. There is nothing hidden in our lives which is not known by Him. He knows what we need, where we want to go in life and what we lack in our daily life.

This morning, I want you to know that God is going to take care of you. You may be having a lot of questions about you future and how you live will be five to ten years from now. Maybe you did some efforts in the past and they didn't pan out like the way you wanted. I'm here to tell you that it will be well, God is still in control.

He is in control of every little detail of your life. You need to learn to trust Him, as days go by continue to trust Him more and more. Someone once day said, God works the night shift. Not you. Don't spend another sleepless night trying to figure out issues, God is working it out. God be with you!
