Morning with Ebenezer

IT STANDS FOR TRUTH

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV

The Bible says let those who love the LORD hate evil, for He guards the lives of his faithful one and delivers them from hand of the wicked, Psalm 97:10. No one who loves the Lord will rejoice in injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

If you walk in the love of God you will never rejoice seeing people suffer in any form. You will not rejoice seeing wicked people prevail or evil take control over the society. You will not have the courage to lie to people concerning different issues in life.

We have some Christians who are willing to lie that they may get their way. There are some ministers who lie to their congregations that they may increase their influence. All lying, gossiping, and every form of slandering are not from God.

This morning, I want to encourage you to rejoice when right and truth prevail. In other words, when you see bad things in your society you need to do something about it. If you see any form of gender discrimination or abuse; you need to start up and defend those who are being oppressed.

The world needs someone like you. Someone who will stand up for the truth no matter what the cost, someone who will make sure the justice is being given to those who desperately need it. May God help you to walk in His love.

Morning with Ebenezer

IT KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

1 Corinthians 13:5 NIV

Sometimes we tend to count wrongs things that people have done to us. Whenever they offend us we tend to add on the yesterday's wrongs. The Bible teaches us that love keeps no record of wrongs. It tends to forgive and let go of the past wrongs.

We have people in the body of Christ who have put list of wrongs that were done against them in their hearts. Maybe there are some people who hurt you in the past and until now you find yourself struggling to forgive them.

Keeping the record of wrongs is another form of unforgiveness. Love requires us to forgive everything and letting go all the past wrongs. It requires us to give people a second chance and benefit of doubt. Love requires us to understand people with their weaknesses and know that each one of us can change.

This morning, I want to encourage you to ask the Lord to help you that you may see the best in all people. You need to learn that people who offended you yesterday can end up being your best friends tomorrow. In one point or another in life love may requires us to forgive; if we truly walk in the love of God we will be willing to do so.

Start this day by letting go of your past wounds. Forgive someone today, talk to someone who you have not talk with for a while because you hold grudges against him or her. God will bless you and give you a peacefully and joyfully life.

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Heavenly Father, create in me a forgiving heart that I may worship You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Morning with Ebenezer

LOVE IS NOT EASILY ANGERED

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

1 Corinthians 13:5 NIV

In life we meet with people who may offend us in many different ways. We have people who get on our nerves every day. People who tend to seek ways to make us feel uncomfortable in life. This teaches us that a person who is easily angered does not dwell in love.

The Bible teaches us to be patient with others. It teaches us to tolerate the weaknesses of others without expressing anger. The Bible also teaches us that "Love covers a multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8). Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:26, “In your anger do not sin” Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. In other words that anger itself is not sin but it can quickly lead to sinful deeds.

In Mark 3:5 the Bible records the following about Jesus, "He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts..." This shows that even Jesus expressed anger when people refused to accept the truth. Jesus showed anger but he did not sin, the Bible confirms this in Hebrews 4:15, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin."

This morning, we need to ask God to help us be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, James 1:19. The Book of Ecclesiastes 7:9 teaches us the following in this topic of anger, "Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools."

The Psalmist David describes God in Psalm 86:15, "But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness." We need to learn to be patient with people, and express the love of God in all areas of our lives.
