PURPOSE OF GETTING OLD

Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by living a godly life.

Proverbs 16:31 NLT

They say with age comes wisdom. In the Bible elders are the group of people who were respected in the society and were the decision makers on the matters concerning the whole community. These people who most of them had gray hair on their heads are believed to have wisdom which they gained through their experience in life and in fearing their Creator.

These elders were older men seniors of the society. God used them to remind young generation about what they are supposed to do, how they do, when to do, and in what extent it should be done. For them gray hair was a crown of glory, was which gained by living a righteous life.

As times passed, there rose a young generation which did not fear God. This generation later came to be the elders of our society, these people forgot their place as leaders and that they need to put the interest of God first before anything else. This lead to the fail of the moral values to this young generation of ours, to the point of supporting things which are abomination to the Bible such as gay marriage.

This morning, God wants you to know that there is a purpose for you to get old. God wants you to teach this generation concerning the great acts of God which He did for you in your young age. Everyone has a story, and if you walked with God in young age, I bet you, you will have a happy ending story with Christ the time you get old.

If gray hair is a crown of glory with God, it will be the crown of disgrace without God. You need to hook up with Jesus that He may finalize your later years in peace. God is counting on you to bring change to your world, to bring hope that God still exist, and He is on the throne of grace and mercy to forgive the sins of man. Pray that you may be the source of change to all who will be near you as the age goes by.

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Heavenly Father, I thank You for your Word. Lord I'm asking as I get old, the time when gray hair will be upon my head. Make me to be your vessel to spread the good news of your acts of love towards me to the younger generation. Lord help me fulfill the purpose which you had for me in every phase of my life. In Jesus' Name,Amen.
