THE GOOD WAY

This is what the Lord says:

“Stand at the crossroads and look;

ask for the ancient paths,

ask where the good way is, and walk in it,

and you will find rest for your souls.

But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Jeremiah 6:16 NIV

The Bible says by faith people of the past obtained their good testimony. These ancient people lived the life that pleased God and they set the good example for us who came to live after them.

The Lord spoke through Prophet Jeremiah pleading with us that we may stand and ask where a good road is and walk in it. And if we do that, we will find rest for our souls. These words are quoted by Jesus in Matthew 11:29: Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. In other words the only way to walk in the ancient godly way is to follow Jesus as the only way to the Father.

God, who is mentioned as the Ancient of Days in the book of Daniel, described in Daniel 7:9. He was seen again by John in Revelation 1:12-16. In Revelation, God the Son is depicted with the same power of judgment over His church as the Ancient of Days is described as having in judging Israel. He is the one who was mentioned in the Gospel of John 1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. God is a Triune God, meaning three Persons in One, and at different times “Ancient of Days” refers to Jesus Christ and at other times, to God the Father.

This morning, I want to remind you that Jesus is not only the way to the Father but the only way to Him. Jesus is that good way Prophet Jeremiah was taking about who lived 600 years before Christ. He was the way from the beginning and He is still the way until this day.

Walk in the way of the Lord; don't be like people in the days of Jeremiah who refused to walk in it. I believe they received their just reward according to the choices they made for themselves. If you are waiting for a reward from heaven; then you need to walk in the way of Christ Jesus. If you are planning to inherit that glorious coming kingdom then you need to stay away from the way of the world and follow our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Father, I want to inherit your heavenly kingdom. Lord help me to live in this life according to the commandments of my Lord Jesus Christ. Help me to live by following what is written in your Holy Scriptures; that I may be counted worthy to escape the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world and stand before the Son of Man. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
