SEND OUT LABORERS

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Matthew 9:35-38 ESV

For any young preacher or minister who wants to learn about ministry, who wants someone to be a role model; and a good example to follow that person should be Jesus Himself. The Scriptures show Jesus had what called servant-leadership, He came not be served; but serve and invite all who believed in Him in His everlasting kingdom.

We see Jesus used to travel throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness. When He reached somewhere and saw a crowd, He felt compassion on them; because their problems were so great and they didn't know what to do or where to go for help, like sheep without a shepherd.

He has a servant-leadership attitude, even though He was the Son of God and God; but still He felt the needs of people and helped them willingly. Later He told His disciples that, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Jesus knew that always there will be need for the preachers of the Gospel; the need of true ministers who will intercede for the sins of the people.

This morning, I want to ask you to pray that the Lord of the harvest may send out laborers into His harvest. The world is the field and sinners are the harvest that the Bible talks about. Jesus Himself said: I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent, Luke 5:32. The world needs to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ; the world needs to hear about the Good News and amazing grace that is found in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The world needs to hear that through Christ there is a forgiveness of sins and the hope to inherit the kingdom of God. The world needs to hear that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Jesus, John 14:6. In other words He is the only way to the Father, and if you don't have Christ then you won't be able to inherit that coming kingdom. If you feel like the Lord is calling you in ministry; accept that calling by faith and let Him do the rest.

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Father, I'm asking that You may send out laborers into your harvest. Lord touch people who will willingly serve You with all of their hearts, souls and minds. Help those who are harvest now to do it for the right reasons according to your Gospel in Christ Jesus our Lord. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
