He has saved us and called us
to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own
purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning
of time,
2 Timothy 1:9 NIV
Paul the Apostle wrote these
words to the church of Ephesus: For it
is by grace you have saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it
is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast, Ephesians 2:8-9. It
was the grace of God that saved you and me, through faith in Christ Jesus but
it was not for our good works.
Jesus said to His disciples
these words: You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so
that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you
ask in my name the Father will give you, John 15:16. Jesus chose us and He was
willing to die for us. We did not know Him but He made Himself known to us. He
had to endure suffering and pain that He may redeem us from sin and death.
He has saved us and called us
to a holy life-not because of anything we have done but because of his own
purpose and grace. We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; none
of our good works were good enough to buy us salvation. It had to take someone
who had no sin to die for our sins. (Romans 3:23)
This morning, I want to
encourage you to live a holy life in Christ Jesus. There are a lot of pressures
out there in the world. We see Christians tend to compromise their faith in
many things and try to do things like the way the world does. There is a
pressure of life, pressure of success and pressure of being better than anyone
else in your circle of influence.
I want to remind you that
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, Hebrews 13:8. If there
was something that was sin yesterday, still it is sin today and it will always
be sin before the eyes of the Lord. I want to encourage you to follow what the
word of God says; don't water down the Gospel of Jesus Christ that you may fit
your life style in it. The Son of God will come to rapture a holy people who
lived their lives without defiling themselves with the ways of the world.
If you want to be among those
people then you need to learn to humble yourself by living a life worth of your
calling in Christ Jesus. You need to know that you were saved by grace, through
faith and you had nothing to do with it; so in everything you need to glorify
God for His mercy and grace.
