GOOD EXAMPLE

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 

 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV

Christians should set a good example to the nonbelievers on how they can live an honest and peaceful life in this perilous world. Matured Christians (those who have walked with the Lord for years); should set a good example to the young Christians (those who are new in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ).

Jesus said to us the church that we are salt of the earth, and then He continued by saying: but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.  In other words if we stop being like the way the word of God teaches is to be. We will lose our flavor and be useless before the eyes of this world. God intended believers to be the hope and encouragement for this world.

Then He said that we are the light if this world. This means that we are the ones who are supposed to show direction to the people who have lost their ways. We are supposed to set a good example to the nations of this world that someone can live a decent life and prosper in his ways without doing anything ungodly. We are supposed to live by faith and not by sight and by doing so people will see it and put their trust in the God that we worship.

This morning, I want you know that you don't have to be a minister to be salt and light of this world. Many Christians have high expectations when it comes to the ministers of the Gospel. They wait for them to set a good example for everyone else including the nonbelievers. They want them to play the major role of setting a good example to the world and forget that that is their duty too.

You can be a salt and light in your area of influence. Your life should reflect what the word of God teaches us to live. Your words should be salted that they may be able to help someone in need. You need to have a good attitude needed to attract people to believe in the God who you believe. You need to walk in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ that you may be a comfort to those who walk in fear.

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for not living according to my calling in Christ Jesus. Lord help me to be a good example to all according to your Gospel in Christ Jesus my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
