Morning with Ebenezer

DON'T TURN BACK

And when a person has escaped from the wicked ways of the world by learning about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and then gets tangled up with sin and becomes its slave again, he is worse off than he was before.  It would be better if he had never known about Christ at all than to learn of him and then afterwards turn his back on the holy commandments that were given to him.  There is an old saying that “A dog comes back to what he has vomited, and a pig is washed only to come back and wallow in the mud again.” That is the way it is with those who turn again to their sin.

2 Peter 2:20-22 TLB

There are many people who wanted to follow the Lord in those days but they had excuses. Some were willing to follow Him but they wanted permission from their families or take care some unfinished businesses in their families. There was a guy in the book of Luke who wanted to follow the Lord but first he wanted to ask permission of those at his house.

The Lord answered Him by saying; No one who puts his hand to the plow looks back [to the things behind] is fit for the kingdom of God, Luke 9:62. There are many things in this life that can tempt us to look back. The lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and pride in our achievements and possessions can take us away from the Lord.

The Bible says; when a person has escaped from the wicked ways of the world by learning about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and then gets tangled up with sin and becomes its slave again, he is worse off than he was before. It says it would be better if he had never known about Christ at all than to learn of him and then afterwards turn his back on the holy commandments that were given to him.

This morning, I want to encourage you to continue in the way of the Lord. Someone who has gone back to the way of the world is compared to a dog that comes back to what he has vomited, and pig that is washed only to come back and wallow in the mud again.

The state of this person becomes worse off than he was before. That's why we witness people doing terrible things after they left the Lord more than what they did before they knew Him. If you have Jesus in your life right now; then hear the word of God for you today, "Don't turn back". Continue fixing your eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Father, I'm asking that You may help me to fix my eyes on You. Help me to be faithful in my walk with You that I may fit for the service in your Kingdom. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
