(As it is
written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him
whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which
do not exist as though they did;
Romans 4:17
NKJV
God changed
the name of Abram to Abraham; and He said He has made Abraham the fathers of many
nations. God said these words to Abraham when He was hundred years old and His
wife Sarai who her name changed to Sarah was ninety years old. God said to
Abraham that his wife shall bear a son, and he shall call his name Isaac.
God said to
Abraham that He will bless Sarah and give him a son by her, and she will be a
mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her. Sarah bore Isaac, and
Isaac begot Esau and Jacob; Esau was the father of Edomites i.e. the
ruling class of many nations in the East as well as of non-Israelite nations in
Europe. Jacob who was named Israel was the father of modern day Jewish people.
Ishmael the
son Abraham who he begot from maidservant Hagar became the father of
Arab/Muslim world. The Lord fulfilled the word that He spoke to Abraham by
telling Him that He will become the father of many nations. He called things
which did not exist as though they did; He saw all these nations before they were even
formed on the face of the earth. (Genesis 16, 17)
This
morning, I just want you to know that God knows your future. He knows where you
will be ten years from now; He knows who you are going to meet today when your
day starts. He knows about your future spouse, children and the end of your
life.
If you want
to be successful in this life then you need to learn to put your trust in God.
You need to learn to trust Him with your future, and submit all your plans to
Him. He will neither disappoint you nor leave you alone in despair; He will
fulfill the word that He has spoken to you and all what He promised will come
to pass.
