Morning with Ebenezer

PASS ME NOT, O GENTLE SAVIOR

As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

Matthew 20:29-31 NIV

“After Fanny Jane Crosby (1820-1915) had spoken and some of her hymns had been sung, she heard one of the prisoners cry out in a pleading voice, ‘Good Lord, do not pass me by’; Following Doane’s suggestion, she wrote a hymn that evening incorporating the line, “Pass me not, O gentle Savior.”

The text would seem to have a biblical basis on the blind beggars’ plea to Christ: “ (Matthew 20:29-31; See also Mark 10:46-52 and Luke 18: 35-43). These two blind men kept on shouting on Jesus though the crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!''

Jesus stopped and called them. "What do you want me to do for you?, they answered, ''we want our sight.'' Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him, (ve. 32-34). Putting herself in the place of the suffering and disregarded, Crosby understood that some had been so rejected that it took faith to realize that Christ is the one who would never pass anyone by.

This morning, God wants you to know He will never pass you by. He knows what you have been going through all this time. He knows all those people who try to shut you down in your efforts of reaching Him. Some say God will not answer, God will be late or God's solution will take a long time so you need to do your way.

Jesus did not pass those blind beggars plea, though some people discouraged them but they kept calling upon His name. You maybe in the same environment, some people are discouraging you to continue trusting God in matters which seems to be chronic in your life. But I'm here to encourage you to continue to trust, to continue to pray, keep on believing and God will never pass you by!

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Heavenly Father, I thank You for your Word. Lord I'm asking that You may not pass me by this morning. Hear my cry ooh Lord, help me according to your love-kindness. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
