Morning with Ebenezer

TEN COMMANDMENTS 7

“You shall not commit adultery.

Exodus 20:14 NIV

Adultery is sexual intercourse between a married person and someone other than their spouse or spouses. In other words is called extramarital sex, historically adultery has been considered to be a serious offense by many cultures.

We see in the book of Leviticus 20:10 that the punishment of adulterer and the adulteress was death. If a man was caught committing adultery with another man's wife, both of them were supposed to face what is called a capital punishment or death penalty.

In the days of Jesus, He came and add something crucial in this commandment of adultery in Matthew 5:27-28 the Bible says: You know the commandment which says, “Be faithful in marriage.” But I tell you that if you look at another woman and want her, you are already unfaithful in your thoughts.(Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Here Jesus added that adultery is not only the act itself but it is also the attitude of the mind. This means that someone can lust for a women and commits adultery inside his heart. The  lust kind of attitude which one may have towards a certain woman in his circle of influence; may cause him to commit this sin of adultery in his heart.

This morning, God wants you to flee from sexual sin. Every other sin people do is outside their bodies, but those who sin sexually sin against their own bodies,1 Corinthians 6:18. This sin has caused divorces in many marriages, deaths of many due to sexual jealousy and abortion of innocent babies.

May God help us to be faithful in our marriages, may God help us to give the marriage the proper respect. The Bible is clear that neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men will inherit the kingdom of God.

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for your Word. Lord I'm asking that You may forgive me the time I went against with this commandment whether in that act or through my thoughts. Help me to be faithful before you and all my relationships. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
