Morning with Ebenezer

COMMON PEOPLE

Therefore David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; how is He then his Son?”
And the common people heard Him gladly.

Mark 12:37 NKJV

The terms common people, the masses, or commoners denote a broad social division referring to regular people who are members of neither the nobility nor the priesthood. This term was used to describe people who had no wealth or influence in the community, before the rise of middle class these people were known as poor people in the society.

These people are the one who listened to Jesus gladly, they were very interested in knowing the things of the Kingdom of God. People who receive great miracles in the life of Jesus were the common people, people who opposed Jesus where busy in resisting Him and they received nothing from God. Common people got to know the secret of the kingdom of God because they  humbled themselves before Him.

In this present age, God is still using common people. Many people who have been used mighty by God since the first century where common people who were despised and ignored in the society. Paul the Apostle puts this way,''For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.( 1 Corinthians 1:26-27)

This morning, God wants you to know he has chosen you the way you are. He knew you had no religious education, you were a sinner, you did many mistakes in your life and you were not wise like so and so but He chose you anyway. He knew you were weak, short tempered and you had no strength to overcome sin but yet He called you by your name, and said you were His.

Start your day knowing God has accepted you, He forgave your sins the day you repented and He doesn't remember them no more. Do not look on your weaknesses but just know grace of God is sufficient for you, for His power is made perfect in weaknesses. Be of good cheer, keep walking in your salvation, God is not done with you yet! Your best days with the Lord are still ahead of you, God bless you.
