Morning with Ebenezer

GOD IS YOUR HELP

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1 NIV

Psalm 121 is one of the fifteen psalms, chapters 120-134 which begin with the Word," A song of Ascents''.Many interpretation are given to these psalms but here are few of them. These psalms were sung by the Jews who ascended from Babylon to Israel in the times of Ezra the Scribe. These psalms were sung by the Jews when they would "ascend" to visit the Holy Temple three times annually for the festivals. These psalms praise, exult and "elevate"God.

The Psalmist David, sung these songs. In his dark hours, these songs lifted him up and he became victories over his foes. One time the greatest Christian thinker ever lived, St. Augustine of Hippo said,''He who sings, prays twice."  The Latin cited for this is "Qui bene cantat bis orat" or "He who sings well prays twice"

King David was a singer, he praised God in every time he got a chance and his life was full of praises to his Creator. David used his gift of singing to pray, while he was singing well before his God; his prayers were answered in awesomely ways. He knew that God was his help and he knew that there was no where to go to get the grace in the time of need but only God was the help.

This morning, you may be having issues and difficulties in some areas of your life. May be you have tried to ask help from friends before but they let you down. Some we have been busy seeking solutions of our problems by watching different programs on Television, studying different materials but we did not get what we needed inside.

I just have one word for you this morning, ''God is your help''. God is the one who can set you free from that addiction which you are struggling with, God is the one who can meet your financial needs and make you to live a debt free life. God is the one who can give you a right spouse. God can give you children, joy and peace in your heart.

Start praising Him today, start singing his praises. Tell all people that His Name endures forever. Forget about your situation and focus on lifting Him up as David did during that time; and He will come down and meet all your needs.

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Heavenly Father, I thank You for your Word. Lord am asking that you may teach my heart to run into you in the time of my need; that I may get mercy and grace from You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
