Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:2-4 NIV
Food is any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink, or that plants absorb, in order to maintain life and growth. Jesus fasted forty days and forty nights, and he was hungry and Satan whom the Bible terms him as a tempter, came to tempt him. The tempter wanted Jesus to change stones to become bread but Jesus quoting the Deuteronomy he says, ''It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.(Deuteronomy 8:3)
God fed the Israelites in the wilderness with manna from heaven to show them that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word which proceeds from the mouth of the LORD. God gave them different kind of food which the Bible calls it manna apart from their normal bread which their fore fathers did not know and through that manna they made to a promised land. This was to show them that they were not need to eat bread alone which was the food they know in order to live; but in order for them to have life they needed to hear a word from the LORD.
When God said a man should not live by bread alone; He meant a man should live by both physical food and spiritual food. In other words the life of a man needs both food which will help him to have external and internal growth and life. The word from the LORD is a food for our spirit, a body need a physical food but our spirits need a word.
Some of us have been asking ourselves these questions,''why am not seeing any noticeable changes in me? why am living a powerless life? why am facing heavy battles in the spirit? why I keep sinning the same sins all over and over again? why I lost the zeal for God? why I lost my faith in God? why I don't love people as before? why am living a prayerlessness life?
This morning, the LORD has sent me to tell you,'' You have been facing all those things because you are weak in the spirit. The devil has taken away your appetite of eating the food of the spirit which is the word of God and hence you became weak. The LORD wants you to know, as the way a physical body without food gets weak; it's the same to the spiritual man without the word he gets weak. Pull up your socks and start feeding your spirit with the word; and you will find yourself able to do all things which God said you will do in His word.

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....
Heavenly Father, I thank You for your word. Lord I'm asking that that you may create in me an appetite in me to eat my spiritual food, a desire to study your word daily in my life. In order that I can live a life of power and fire.In Jesus' Name, Amen.
