Morning with Ebenezer

DO YOU CARE FOR THE POOR?

The poor are shunned by all their relatives—
how much more do their friends avoid them!
Though the poor pursue them with pleading,
they are nowhere to be found.

Proverbs 19:7 NIV

Jesus said you will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me, John 12:8. Jesus meant that poor will in every generation among us; but He had a short time to fulfill His purpose in this world.

I believe that you have relatives and friends who are poor in your life. You have those people who are less privileged than you; there are people who don't have the same opportunities in life like you have. One question you need to ask yourself is how you treat those people in your life. The Bible says if you are poor, your family will turn against you, and your friends will avoid you even more.

Poor man might beg for help, but no one will come to help him. Wealth brings many friends, but a poor man's friend deserts him, Proverbs 19:4. Jesus showed love for poor people and helped them. We are living in a generation of Christians who honor more wealth people and ignore the presence of poor people. It's like we are following some things which don't make us uncomfortable; but we ignore those teachings of the Gospel that may take us away from our comfort zone.

This morning, I want you to know that He who is kind to poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done, Proverbs 19:17. You need to learn to be kind to those who are less privileged than you. This includes to stop having a show off like attitude; if God has blessed with good materials things then there is no need of you to start bragging in-front those you know they don't have what you have.

The Psalmist David pronounce blessings for those who help the poor, He says the following: God blesses those who are kind to the poor. He helps them out of their troubles. He protects them and keeps them alive; he publicly honors them and destroys the power of their enemies. He nurses them when they are sick and soothes their pains and worries, Psalm 41:1-3. If you want to see those things in your life then you need to start being kind to the poor.

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Father, forgive me for where I have been harsh to those who are less privileged in my circle of my influence. Help me to be kind to everyone who comes in my life no matter how rich or poor they are. Help me to look my fellow human beings like the way you look them in all the days of my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
