Morning with Ebenezer

THE JOY BRINGER

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—
The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.

John 14:16-17 AMP

We see the Holy Spirit is being introduced by Jesus as the Comforter who is also a Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener and Standby. During this time the Holy Spirit was not yet in the world and Jesus was telling His disciples about the coming of this amazing Spirit of the Living God who was the part of Godhead from the beginning.

Today I want to talk about this wonderful Spirit who brings joy in the hearts of believers. If you ask me, I can also describe Him as the joy bringer. Okay let us define first what joy is, we can say joy is the feeling of great pleasure and happiness. According to Theopedia, an encyclopedia of Biblical Christianity says Joy is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope. It is something or someone that provides a source of happiness. It appears 88 times in the Old Testament in 22 books; 57 times in the New Testament in 18 books.

It differs from happiness because joy is caused mostly by spiritual experiences, for example having peace with God while happiness is caused by earthly experiences or material objects. Joy can last depending to one's inward circumstances while happiness is temporary based on outward circumstances. The Spirit of God is the one who brings joy to the heart of a believer that's why there is no joy in unbelievers but temporary satisfaction of sin.

This morning, I just want to encourage you to ask God to restore in you the joy of His salvation. Ask Him to forgive you where you went wrong, because sin is the main reason that takes away the joy in someone life. After repenting you will be in a good position to come before Him by the blood of Jesus and ask the Lord God to restore the joy of His salvation through His precious Spirit.

If you are a child of God, you have a right to walk in the joy of the Lord. The joy of the Lord is your strength; Paul wrote to us that we need to rejoice in the Lord always. Then he insisted again that we need to rejoice, Philippians 4:4. Start the day with the joy of the Lord in your heart, walk in that joy and know that the Lord is going to bless the work of your hands.

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me where I have gone against your will. Lord please restores the joy of your salvation, and makes me willing to obey You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
