Morning with Ebenezer

GOOD NAME

If you must choose, take a good name rather than great riches; for to be held in loving esteem is better than silver and gold.

Proverbs 22:1 TLB

There is a temptation of getting good life and riches even if it will involve some illegal ways. This temptation comes to both believers and non-believers; all of them in one point find themselves tempted to choose shortcut ways in life.

Before making a decision of doing anything that you may come to regret one day; you need to ask yourself what you are going to gain because of it in a long run. Is it worth to get enough money that will make you live comfortably in your present and end up in pain and regret in your future? What will be the effects of your decision to your loved ones?

The Bible teaches us if we must choose; we need to choose a good reputation over great riches. This is what we call a good testimony in the body of Christ. We need to live the life that will give us a good testimony before believers and unbelievers too. We need to live like the way the word of God commands us. We cannot call ourselves Christians if we do not live according to what Christ taught and encouraged us to walk in them.

This morning, I just want you to know that the good name is found in Christ Jesus our Lord. You cannot find a good name outside Jesus Christ. If you don't have Jesus there is one point in life you will be tempted to do things against the will of the Lord and you will give in. You will be tempted because you will not have the Spirit of Jesus to help you resist that kind of temptation.

If you don't have the Lord, the enemy will come to tempt you, and after you tempted; he will leave you in shame. You need the Lord if you want to have the good testimony among people in your circle of influence. If you want to be a good example you need to follow the perfect example which is found in Christ Jesus our Lord.

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to choose a good name rather than great riches. Help me to make wise decisions in all my dealings that I may not sin. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
