Morning with Ebenezer

UNITY

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

Psalm 133:1 NIV

We see in the book of John 17:11 Jesus prayed for unity, He prayed that His disciples may continually to be one like the way He was one with His Father. Jesus knew the formula from the beginning that one can chase a thousand and two can put ten thousand to flight that's why He prayed for unity.(Deuteronomy 32:30)

We see Jesus teaches about agreement in the book of Matthew 18:19-20, that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. This too lies under the category of unity among God's people. Jesus showed us that there are some mountains which will be taken out of our lives only if we will touch and agree for those mountains to be removed.

Throughout the history Satan has targeted this same aspect of unity among the believers. He made many to believe that they can do everything by their own and they don't need any help from those who don't agree with their ideas. The commentary of NIV Study Bible says the following about the prayer of Jesus about unity: The unity is to be like that between the Father and the Son. It is much more than unity of organization, but the church's present divisions are the result of failures of Christians.

This morning, God wants you to pray for the unity of the body of Christ. The church needs to come together to destroy the devices of the devil and not to try destroy one another. When I say the church I mean all people all over the world regardless of their races and historical backgrounds; but who have one thing in common, they believe Jesus as the Lord and Savior of their lives.

Each one of us needs to do initiatives starting from our local fellowships and churches. To settle every kind of disputes and conflicts among us. To resolve our differences and to fight for the good battle of faith for the sake of billions of perishing souls all around the world. This is my calling, this is your calling and this is both our calling. We need to contend for the faith, while keeping the unity of the Church of God.

****Morning Prayer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for your Word. Lord I pray for the unity of the Church, Lord I pray that your people may come together and serve You with one heart and one soul. Lord I'm asking that You may make me an instrument of  your peace for the glory of your Kingdom.
