Morning with Ebenezer

SEESAW GIVING

But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

Mark 12:42-44 NIV

We see the poor widow in the place of offering, who put small copper coins, worth only a few cents. But on the other side they were rich people who threw in large amounts. Jesus called his disciples and said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth(surplus); but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.

Jesus was teaching here that what counts is not how much you give in the Kingdom of God; but how much is left in your treasury. Those rich people threw in large amounts but it came from in their surplus so they gave God what they did not need at all. On the side of this widow, out of her poverty, put in everything-all she had to live on.

There are some of us, who we ask ourselves why we are giving but we don't see the blessings of the God upon our lives. Some even start doubting if the Word in Luke 6:38 it's true, which says, ''Give, and you will receive. We don't see much blessings upon us because when we give out to God, we take from our surplus in other words we give only what leftovers, which in real sense we don't need it at all.

This morning, God wants you to know, The measure you give will be the measure you get back, Luke 6:37c. If you give out of your leftovers surplus, you will get the same leftovers blessings. If you give out all who had to live on, be sure God will give you all what He had in store for you.

Giving is like a seesaw, the more you put your weight in one side, the same it will rise in the other side. If you put little weight in one side, nothing much will happen on the other side too. Learn how to give like that poor widow, while knowing the amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

****Morning with Ebenezer****

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....

Heavenly Father, I thank You for your Word. Lord I'm asking that You may teach my heart to give according to your Word, ooh God. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
