Self control is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. This is fruit is the same in importance just like others fruit such as love,joy, peace, kindness and e.t.c. The church needs to have this fruit in order that it can fulfill its mission in this world. We as individuals, each one of us needs this fruit of self control to enable us to have full control of all matters which surround us in life.
King Solomon gave two important lessons: The first one, he said when you find honey, you should not eat too much; or it will make you sick! He added by saying, don't visit your neighbor too often; they may get tired of you and come to hate you. This is the picture language which explains how we need to control ourselves in engaging too much in things, and how we need to have certain limits when we interact with others.
There are some of us due to the lack of self control, we found ourselves every time we get money, we spend all of it in a short period of time; and remain with nothing for a long time. Some of us we lack self control in our words, most of the time we talk things which hurt our loved ones and those who are in the circle of our influence. As the result we can't make friends,people fear to befriend us because of our unfriendly way of communication.
This morning, I don't know where you need God to help you to control yourself but I know that God wants you to ask Him for that fruit of self control. God wants you to give careful thought to your ways. God wants you to control yourself in all matters including eating, drinking and competition on fashions, riches and pleasures of this world.
Desire to have a self control in you. Start seeing yourself walking in it, have faith in the Holy Spirit that He will grant to you that fruit in your life. Past is over, whatsoever you did due to the lack of self control, God is able to forgive you and give you a new beginning if you will allow Him today!

Pray this prayer with me by faith and God is going to answer your prayer....
Heavenly Father, I thank You for your Word. Lord I'm asking that You may give me the fruit of self control in my life. Help me to start controlling myself through the help of your Spirit, forgive me and give me a new start with you. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
