And yet [in spite of all this] many even of the leading men (the authorities and the nobles) believed and trusted in Him. But because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, for fear that [if they should acknowledge Him] they would be expelled from the synagogue;
For they loved the approval and the praise and the glory that come from men [instead of and] more than the glory that comes from God. [They valued their credit with men more than their credit with God.]
John 12:42-43
Jesus when He was in the fresh in this world, He did many signs and wonders before people who lived in His day. One of the astonished miracle was when He raised Lazarus from dead, this made many people to come to Him but the Bible puts it clear that they did not come not only to hear Jesus but also they came to see Lazarus who they heard that He was dead and Jesus raised him back again to life.
Some of the rulers, noble men and famous people of His day believed and trusted in Jesus; but because of Pharisees( whom were religious leaders) they did not confess it, for they feared that they would cast away from the synagogue. Since many religious leaders of His day where against Jesus. It is the same in our day that many of us like to have approval from our friends and people rather than to get approval from God.
Many of young people in colleges they found themselves engaged in what we call risk behaviors because simply they wanted to get approval from their friends. Now days people who are called by the name of God (born again Christians) are the laughingstock among the unbelievers and they are given every kind of disappointment names that they may feel bad and at the end leave their faith.
You may be in the state where the environment is forcing you to compromise, water down the Gospel of Jesus and do some things like the way people of this world do. I have a message for you my friend that, God praise and approval is above all what a man can offer to you. God approval is eternal but man's approval is for the shorty period of time while you still have something to benefit them, but soon will fade away and you will just remain with regrets and sorrow.
Renew your mind, change your attitude, seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all things shall be added into you. Do not sell your body for someone who promised he will marry you and forget that fornication is sin. God is faithful, He will give you double for your trouble. Wait for Him soon He will come for your rescue.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for your Word. Lord I'm asking that you may forgive me for the sin of compromising, now I am asking that You may give me strength to stand for you alone in all the days of my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
