THE GREATEST GIFT
If I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even]
of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion
such as is inspired by God’s love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a
clanging cymbal.
1 Corinthians 13:1 AMPC
We are going to start another Series of Love according to chapter
13 of the Book of first Corinthians. We are going to read verse by verse that
we may get the meaning behind of every verse through the power of Holy Spirit.
Paul the Apostle said, “If you can speak in the tongues of men and
even of angels, but have not love, I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.”
In the Church of Corinthians many people had different gifts of the Spirit; and
there were some people who can pray or speak in different tongues by the help
of the Spirit of God. It is believed that the gift of tongues was placed first
as the most over-estimated gift at Corinth.
Apostle Paul was trying to say greatest gifts are valueless
without love. If we don't have love while operating in our gifts we are only a
noisy gong [simply a piece of metal, which when struck will merely produce
noise]. Or clanging cymbal [This instrument can produce by itself no
intelligible tune]. In other words we become people who have no meaning before
our Heavenly Father.
This morning, I want to encourage you to ask the Father that He
may give you the ability to love. Maybe you can pray until the heavens come down
or you speak in all spiritual languages that the Spirit can grant to a person.
If you can’t love, then it doesn't mean anything and you will not go anywhere
after this life.
We were commanded to love one another; you don't have any excuse
when it comes to love. You are commanded to love regardless the situation
including your enemy. I want to challenge you to love someone today, and love
not by words alone; but by deeds and truth. We shall continue with this Series
of Love according to first Corinthians 13 tomorrow, God bless you!
