Bible scholars have grouped
God’s will in the following categories according to the Scriptures.
1. Directive will of God (Perfect will of God)
God's Directive will concerns what He wants a person to do, or where He
wants a person to go.
2. The Permissive will of God (Imperfect will of God)
Where the negative volition
(free will) in man is permitted to operate contrary to the will of God. Man
goes negative against God's directive will. God's absolute righteousness says
that God cannot coerce man. Justice disciplines the man.
For
example, 2 Corinthians 6:14, Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what
fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light
with darkness?
-Directive will of God. Do
not marry an unbeliever. Sovereign will of God.
-Permissive will of God.
You marry one anyway, resulting in misery and Divine discipline.
3. Overruling will of God
Man's freewill has limits. When
the volition of man would interfere with something which God has determined to
do, then the Overruling will of God steps in and says 'No'. God's overruling
will can be seen in Numbers
chapters 22, 23, and 24, concerning Balak's desire for Balaam to curse
the Jews, but God would not allow Balaam to curse the Jews, and in fact Balaam
ended up blessing them instead.
God is faithful; His will
is the best for our lives. May the light of His Spirit rekindle our hearts that
we may be faithful in walking in His will and obey everything which God wants
for our lives according to His riches Glory in Christ Jesus our Lord.
****Morning Prayer****
Pray this prayer with me by
faith and God is going to answer your prayer….
Heavenly Father, I thank
you for your will in my life. I'm asking that you may grant me inner strength
to be able to say Yes to your will and obey all what you will direct me to do
in these vanity days under the sun that I may be able to inherit your kingdom
after this life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
